IMPROVING SUPERVISOR PERFORMANCE
A well know company KMC Constructions was facing a problem with its supervisors on its road project at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. It has added lot of supervisors on its project, but work was not progressing. The site was requesting to provide additional supervisors for completing work on time, but no one had a clue on what existing supervisors are doing. KMC directors got in touch with Pipal Tree Ventures to address this problem. Pipal Tree Ventures took it up as a challenge. Five instructors from Pipal Tree worked on this mission for three months, under the guidance of its training head. They devised new job cards for these supervisors. This was first time anyone in the construction industry has seen these cards being implemented for supervisor. Pipal Tree Instructors worked closely with supervisors to ensure that they indeed understand and fill in the proper information. Pipal Tree instructors worked round the clock to collect these job cards every day, analyse the data and give very crisp weekly summary to top management. Within first 2 weeks, management realized the importance of this service. Each week it started getting report on the supervisors who are doing a good job, who are not at all of site and who need more training. They also started getting the inputs on progress of each activity and how it is not able to meet the set standards. Pleased with the results, top management decided to continue the service for three months so that it can gather all the data, understand the reasons and act on them.
